Hi Emma,
Thanks it was nice to see family, especially after relocation we miss everyone 🙂
Usually I was giving her something to eat at 10:45-11:00 when we were out for a walk and was puting her to sleep at 12:15 pm. But lately I gave her snack at 11:30-11:45 am and put her to sleep at 12:45. I think she poops between 1-1:45 pm, because usually id she doesn’t sleep I go and check on her at 1:45. I was giving her snack later so that it won’t be too early before nap so that she won’t get hungry.
She almost always wakes up crying after her naps and these few days she doesn’t at first let me to take her out of the crib and sometimes she become happier after I breastfeed her or just 10-15 mins later. Should I go immediately to her or wait for her to soothe herself? Also lately her nap time shifted as she is having a tantrum when I am taking her to the bedroom. For example today she went to her playpen and wasn’t coming out, but usually she doesn’t play there much. The same is when I want to give her dinner, she doesn’t want to sit in her chair and her bedtime routine shifts a bit.
And if she doesn’t sleep( for example today I put her to the crib at 1 pm and it’s almost 2 o’clock she is not sleeping) should I change her ( if she pooped) and put her to the crib or maybe just take her out and give her an early bedtime? Because when I change her and put to the crib she cries very hardly (( Once after I changed her I breastfed her and she slept immediately.
Thanks a lot, Emma.
Kind regards,
Elen

Hi Emma,
Thanks for your answer.
Now she mainly wakes up at 6:30 and I put her to the crib at 12:20 but she doesn’t sleep until 1-1:10 pm, isn’t it too long wake window for her? She isn’t crying all the time, mainly talking to herself or calling me(( But sometimes she cries too.
There are days that she doesn’t sleep until 1:30 and then I go in and mainly she has pooped. I change her and put her back but she cries very hardly. I tried giving her snack earlier but still she doesn’t poop before nap time. In the mornings also when she calls for me she already has pooped.
And her naps didn’t get any longer 🙁 She sleeps from 60-90 minutes, usually 75-80 mins..
Also recently she began to wake up at 5 am sometimes, she hasn’t done it for several months, I can’t understand what is the reason. And also in the evening when I put her at 6:30 pm sometimes she doesn’t sleep for an hour, just talk to herself, but sometimes sleeps shortly after I put her. Thanks a lot.
Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Thanks for your tips.
Recently she began waking up at 7 am instead of 6:30 am. And I put her to the crib for her nap at 12 pm and for the past 3 days she slept very quickly, cried only for a minute, but she sleeps until 13:30, is 90 minutes enough? Or she should at least sleep 2 hours? And I put her to bed at 6:30 pm. Should I put her to bed at 7 pm or wake her up at 6:30? I think more then 12 hours in the crib is too much?Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Can you please give an advice how to keep her sleep independently while travelling? We are visiting my brother in law, we’ll stay in their place but in my previous experience when we slept at my mother’s house she was crying(she wasn’t used to the house) and I read books to her until she slept and then put her to the crib. In an unfamiliar house I am afraid to let her cry 🙁 But I am afraid it’ll get difficult when we come back.
Kind regards,
Elen

Hi Emma,
Yes, it does, thanks.
I am confused because she rubs her eyes and didn’t even let me finish her book and I though that she is tired (at 6:30 pm) I put her to bed but she cried for 10 minutes. And also as she still doesn’t have long nap I thought that maybe she will be tires by 6:30. She mainly wakes up at 1:30.
Also is 90 minute nap enough for her?(from 12-13:30). Because I read that they should sleep 2-3 hours in the afternoon.Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Thanks a lot for your response.
Yes, I want something that I can take off when she doesn’t sleep, need to find something that is easy to take off and on.
The last days she usually sleeps at 12:10 until 12:45 with a short waking in a middle. She just cries for several seconds every 20-30 minutes..Today for example I put her to crib at 12 pm, she cried for 10 minutes and slept at 12:10, woke up 12:36, cries for several seconds, then again woke up at 13:16 then finally woke up at 13:36. I put her to bed at 6:50 and she cried for 10 minutes. That is was disturbing me, she usually didn’t cry at bedtime, and will the crying before naps also go away?
About shifting her bedtime at 7 and then waking up at 6:30 am, if I put her to her crib at 12pm or a bit later isn’t it a long wake window? I thought I should push bedtime to 7 pm so that she would wake up at 7 am and would nap at 12 pm because at that time there is a natural dip in circadian rhythm. not for a longer window.Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Thanks a lot. I tried putting her at 12:10 pm this 2 days and it seems she sleeps more quickly. And yesterday she woke up after an hour cried a little and slept another 30 minutes, but then at bedtime she was crying. So this two days O took her out of the crib at 2 pm and she had difficulty sleeping at 6:30 pm, maybe shift a little?
I will try to make it darker, I bought a portable blackout blinds but our windows are very wide and it doesn’t cover all of it and also when the sun comes it smells weird (( I added some cupboard boxes on the windows. When you add garbage bags does the room get hotter?
Kind regards,
Elen

HI Emma,
Yes, sorry, that was a typo, she turned 16 months old on 18th.
When she skips her nap at first she is with lot of energy but her eyes are tired. And at the end of the day she starts fussing, at around 5 pm. Yesterday, for example, we were out, she was in a carrier and fell asleep on our way home, so I put her to bed at 5:30 and she slept until 6:15 am.Mainly no, she doesn’t nap the whole day, she almost never slept in her stroller, even if she was little. Sometimes in the carrier, but it can be only on weekends when we go out.
Ok, thanks, I can try putting her to the crib at 12:30 pm, If I give her lunch at 11:30, should she be done eating by 11:45?So that she won’t poop during nap time?I started potty training her, I put her on the potty 30 minutes after she had lunch, which is 20 minutes before putting her to the crib, we don’t have a progress yet, but it just been 2 days of trying.
Do I understand right that around 12 pm it’s easier to fall asleep? If this works sure I will push back her bedtime at 7 pm.
And another problem is even if she does fall asleep she wakes up early, today I put her to the crib at 12:05 pm, she talked to herself and at 12:30 fall asleep, but woke up at 13:08. Can the problem be that I couldn’t blackout 100 percent the room? It’s still dark but I read that it should be very dark, so that you can’t see your hand.Kind regards,

Okay, I’ll do that, should I put her into the crib at 12 pm or she should be asleep by 12?
I was wondering if I am putting her early wouldn’t she still fall asleep just maybe not immediately, why she won’t fall asleep for example 30 minutes later? Is there possibility that she may be overtired by 11 am? She turn 14 months today.
Kind regards,
Elen

Hi Emma,
we close the light but we can’t do anything about the sound, something moves in it when we turn to night mode, but I watched her for a few days with it.on 16/04/2024
06:30 wake up
11:05 to the crib
she fell asleep very quickly, I looked at 11:09 she was lying down.
12:09 woke up but didn’t cry much, at 12:29 started cryingon 17/04/2024
06:30 wake up
11:08 to the crib
11:10 I looked with camera she was lying, and speaking to herself while lying, I thought she would fall asleep but she talked for half an hour and then stood up18/04/2024
06:30 wake up
11:10 to the crib
she almost didn’t cry but was standing all the time talking, after 45 minutes started cryingI can took a photos of some previous days.
I don’t understand I do the same thing and one day she sleeps the other she don’t, mostly she doesn’t take a nap.
sometime she poops but that isn’t always the reason, sometimes there is no poop but she doesn’t sleep at all.We wake up at 6:30, I breastfeed her at 7:30-8 we have breakfast and I take her out at 9:30 till 10:30 and give her a snack from 9:45-10:00, so 1 hour before I put her to the crib, but she doesn’t poop before her nap.
Hope you can help me 🙂
Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Can I attach photos here? Of the times that I wrote down.

Hi Emma,
1. Yes, I shut the door.
2. It differs. Mainly at the beginning she cries and then starts to talk or kick the wall. Today for example she only cried for 30 minutes and then fall asleep, yesterday she fall asleep after 5 minutes of cring.3. She doesn’t nap the whole day( I don’t try again, I don’t know if I should try?
4. I think 3 to 4 days a week she has a nap, but it is not long, 30-60 minutes.
5. I did for some days, I will attach the photos.
6. We have a camera, but as it is a bit dark in the room when we open it the night mode is being activated and there is some light and sound, that’s why when she is silent I am afraid to turn it on so that I won’t wake her, I am thinking of buying another one(I was giving her a snack form 10:30-10:45 and putting her to crib at 11:20-11:30, I can shift the snack a bit earlier.
Thanks, Emma

Hi Emma,
1. Yes we have a schedule. I woke her up at 6:30-45 am and go to her bedroom at 11:00 am for her nap. I put her into her sleep sack then read a book and then turn the white noise, put her to the crib, turn off the lights and leave the room.( I tell her that I’ll be in the next room while she is sleeping and that I love her 🙂 )
2. I bought blackout curtains but it isn’t 100 percent blackout, still some light comes in, but still it is pretty dark. There is some noise sometimes from the neighbors but not always.
3. Mainly very long, 30-60 minutes sometimes she doesn’t sleep at all. For example today she cried for only 1 minute but then started talking to herself. After 30 minutes I thought that she fall asleep but then again I heard her, the problem is sometimes she is very quite I think she is sleeping and then again she makes noise.
Sometimes she poops and as she doesn’t cry much I don’t go to her and then after an hour I see that she pooped and maybe that’s why she didn’t sleep. But sometimes she doesn’t poop just don’t sleep.
Thanks in advance, Emma.
