Hi Emma,
Thanks for your rapid reply. it’s true about them becoming more alert. He’s only 5 months old, but seems to be a bit beyond that compared to others we know. He is quite a large baby and has outgrown his bassinet, so we’ve had to take that option off the table, sadly. But the carrier works occasionally, so that could be an option to build up.
So, his sleep at home is spot on and we’ll continue there, even if it is only 30 mins during the day.
The routine has been a bit all over the shop at home, but generally, he gets a feed downstairs (exclusively breastfed), then taken up and continues until asleep in mum’s arms. Then he’s placed down put in a sleep sack. Sometimes we get false starts, or he just sleeps deeply for 30 mins then he’s up. Since this incident, I have tried to wait for the sleep cues and walk him around in my arms without feeding, just shushing and rocking, until he falls asleep, then down, sleep sack and hope.
Note, that I have tried the settling pyramid, and it’s only worked once.
Bedtime is a bit different. We try to wind-down downstairs, then go up for a bath, then he is fed to sleep and I will often take him to burp/digest then place him down. Over the last week, he has been getting worse at staying asleep, where he used to give us an initial 3-7 hours, now he’s generally up every 2, sometimes 1!
For napping when out, I don’t mind if it’s in the stroller, laid flat, or the carrier, although the stroller would be easier on our backs since he’s about 9kg already.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Emma. I was following this advice as it seemed more logical. And, I haven’t been too strict about the distance; I just put the speaker on the other side of the room.
Thanks for your confirmation
