Hi Emma, how are you? I hope you have been keeping well. Here I am again but this time with the two nap transition! I tried to hold on to three naps as long as possible but Rohan started having short naps and waking up slightly earlier in the mornings. I am on day 4 and it looks like this so far.
Wake around 645-7am
First nap 2.5 hours later and sleeps around 90 minutes
Wake up around 11am
Second nap 3 hours later
3.5 hour wake window then bed around 7pm
I have a few questions I am hoping you can help with:
1. What do I do if Rohan sleeps 11 hours instead of 12 at night as this is what he has usually done?
2. On day 3 and 4 he seemed to find it harder to connect cycles during nap 2. In fact on day 3 he didn’t, when he has previously successfully linked for weeks. Does this happen during nap transitions? I recall the same happened when going from 4 to 3 naps for about 2 weeks then it clicked. When this happens I have been going for an early bedtime but perhaps a third cat nap would be better? Day 4 he did connect cycles but it wasn’t as smooth as previous.
3. You previously mentioned you can cap the first nap to distribute sleep to the second. I don’t plan to do that at the moment but if I did in the future, what age is that appropriate from?
4. Do you think the above schedule looks ok as he is actually getting more sleep on this schedule than on 3 naps where he had 11 hours night sleep and 3.5 hours day sleep?
5. When do you increase the last wake window to 4 hours?
Best wishes,
Pav
