Hi, Emma!
I’m happy to say that it seems like things finally start getting better at bedtime and night. And the reason for that was probably what you suggested – her sleep needs have been shifted. Her wake windows expanded quite a bit, especially the last one. Her bedtime became much easier, a few days ago I was finally able to put her to sleep using a settling pyramid and now usually I go through a bedtime routine and she falls asleep. Only now I put her to the crib quite drowsy but I am about to expand those wake moments. Yet mostly she still wakes up once after an hour but it’s usually easy to get her back to sleep. Her stirs at night reduced a lot. Anyway, I tracked some information.
Nov 12 day: 4:47 PM ended last nap. Fell asleep at 7:53 PM.
Nov 11 day: it was a crazy day, I have one more question.
Nov 10 day: 5:37 ended last nap. Fell asleep at 8:31 PM.
Nov 9 day: 5:46 ended last nap. Fell asleep at 8:23 PM
Nov 8 day: 5:12 ended last nap. Fell asleep at 8.21 PM.
I hope that is enough information to give you some insights.
- First nap: Around 8:30/9 am
- Second nap: Around 12:30/1 pm
- Third nap: Around 4/4:30 pm, ending by 5/5:30 pm > not exactly. She usually wakes up around 6 AM so her first nap usually is about 8 AM and sometimes it lasts about an hour or more but very often it lasts about half an hour. So her second nap often is about 11-11:30 AM. Her last nap starts between 4 and 5 PM and I don’t let anymore be it longer than 45 minutes.
I have one more question: sometimes it happens that her first naps of the day are shorter and when she has her last third nap I have two options: to wake her and then try to have a fourth nap and extend her day or let her have long (around 1.5 hour) last nap. Then her bedtime starts earlier (around 7 PM. It’s earlier for us but normal for her age babies, right?). Should I let her have that last nap so long as long as it doesn’t exceed all day’s nap time amount and has a broad enough last wake window? Because I noticed that she is having a really hard time falling asleep for the fourth nap even if she is tired.
And last question: your program is for newborns until 6 months old. I applied it. What’s next? Does the settling pyramid will work in the future and should work because the baby is familiar with it or it changes somehow? It would be interesting to know how is it going for you and your little one 🙂
Sorry if this letter is a bit long and if my English is not perfect 🙂
