Reply To: Baby wakes every 2 – 10 minutes at start of night

Hi Emma, hope you are well.

So tonight we did not use the pacifier to put her to sleep. She however she cried, which sounded hysterical (snot and tears), and we quickly moved up the settling pyramid. However after 10 minutes of crying (rocking and singing still could not settle her) we put her down and gave her her pacifier. She settled very quickly and fell asleep on her own but with the pacifier.

What do you suggest? Should we try removing it with the following wakings during the night or rather again tomorrow evening? And then if she cries like this again how long should we leave her to cry whilst rocking and trying to calm her without the pacifier?

Ideally we would like her to sleep without it, but I am not sure how to proceed.
